The exhibition, which was held at an exhibition hall in the Viennese MuseumsQuartier, was made for the Swedish Embassy in Vienna, and inaugurated by the Swedish Queen in November 2007. In an ironic side glance this exhibition tried to show the main five different approaches towards design in Sweden. First: Sweden is known for its innovative environment where a lot of new inventions help to defend its world leading role. Second: the new strategic approach towards design and its methodological implementation in companies and public services. Third: the historical dimensions of Swedish design through one of its main representative Josef Frank who was born in Austria but lived in exile in Sweden. Forth: In Sweden also still exists a significant number of artisans with artistic craftsmanship and an high level of fabrication and crafts quality. Fifth: To show the ubiquity of design in sweden, IKEA with its democratic design approach had not to be missed.
